Harriet Cobb
It all begins with an idea
About the Author
Harriet Cobb, a native of Kentucky, has made Memphis, Tennessee, her home for more than four decades. As the wife of a pilot, she has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and parts of South America. In 2018, she and her husband marked their fortieth wedding anniversary with a three-week journey through Alaska and Canada. Her years abroad included living and working in both England and the Middle East, experiences that continue to shape her worldview and her writing.
Upon returning to the United States in 1983, Harriet and her husband devoted themselves to raising three sons. Life was full—church commitments, Scouting, and a constant rotation of sports kept the household lively and the schedule demanding. Alongside these responsibilities, Harriet operated a successful custom cake business for twenty-five years.
With the passing of her husband and the closing of her business, Harriet turned to writing as a way to give voice to the moments she had long treasured. Many of her stories are drawn from the everyday joys and challenges of family life, often with a grandmother's perspective. While she occasionally employs literary license, her work is grounded in authenticity and infused with warmth, humor, and a profound appreciation for life’s small yet meaningful details.
Her debut book, Carmine – A Very Special Horse, introduced readers to her storytelling. Her title, with Monkey See Monkey Do, Monkey Can Do It, Can You?, introduces you to her rhyming brain. In her upcoming book, Mom’s Bedroom Door, she continues that journey with a nod to an older child who gets lost in his imagination. Follow her on Facebook at Harriet Cobb-Author.
